Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.

 

The effects on the physical body of the warm stones are far greater than normal massage.  The application of heat will stimulate the systems yet create a state of calm and sedation on the client.

 

One stroke with a warm stone is equivalent to between 5 - 10 strokes with your hand.

 

It improves circulation as the heat of the stones reaches depths of up to 4cms and increased blood circulation will bring nutrients to the tissues and assist with removal of toxins from the tissues.

 

It is great for the muscular/skeletal system as the heat works on the tension and knots and regular treatments can result in the improvement in the range of motion of a joint or muscle.

 

It has relaxing effects on the client as the central nervous system is sedated by the heat.
